Creating engaging environments
We merge history, narrative, and contemporary aesthetics to create spaces that feel timeless yet personal. Esma Annemon Dil's own residence in Silver Lake’s historic Moreno Highlands channels this sensibility, paying homage to the area’s origins, crafted in the 1920s by silent film star Antonio Moreno and his oil-heiress wife, Daisy Canfield, to evoke Riviera grandeur. Dil's design embodies a layered mix of Old Hollywood and European aristocratic charm, where rich textures, moody lighting, and vintage touches create an atmosphere of intimate, timeless decadence. Each corner feels steeped in stories, blending eccentric pieces and understated, eclectic edge. through custom-designed tiles, intricate ironwork, bespoke furniture, and furnishings that merge Revival architecture with a bold, modern sensibility. An extensive outdoor room blends Indochine and Ottoman influences, creating a worldly, lush sanctuary. Inside, a former basement, now with extra high ceilings draws inspiration from Cy Twombly’s Rome residence and Villa Ruffini in Ravenna, establishing a space that feels both historically rooted and evocatively surreal. The residence’s colors were mixed on-site to achieve tones precisely attuned to the space, light, and design, crafting atmospheres that shift between moody, nostalgic, and vibrant. This approach inspired STUDIO DIL's custom color line, helping clients find hues producing an immersive resonance that brings spaces to life. Through a thoughtful fusion of art and environment, Dil’s work transforms everyday settings into profound articulations of individuality and place.
